The Equity and Inclusion (E&I) in PHAS team is expanding! We are looking for new members (Graduate Students or Postdoctoral Fellows) to join our community and help out at events. The positions will run for one year, from October 2021 – September 2022. The deadline to apply is September 15, 2021.

We are currently accepting applications for the E&I Coordinator position. The one-year term will start in October. The time commitment for the positon is 3-5 hours/week. Responsibilities include

  • Liaise with outside groups
  • Organize regular department events
  • Organize workshop
  • Administrative duties

We are currently accepting applications for the following E&I volunteer positions. Complete the application form to let us know you are interested in the position. The one-year term will start in October. The time commitment is about 5 hours/month. Questions regarding the position should be directed to equity-inclusion@phas.ubc.ca.

Events Coordinator (2 positions)

  • Keep up with offered workshops at UBC
  • Share those workshops with the Communications Coordinator for circulating on the monthly newsletter
  • Organize E&I-specific workshops with the help of the Coordinator and team members
  • Organize monthly cookie socials (currently virtual)

Communications Coordinator (1 position)

  • Keep the website up to date with events and resources
  • Circulate E&I-related events and resources via monthly newsletters
  • Take meeting minutes
  • Edit documents/applications as needed

Treasurer (1 position)

  • Submit applications for event funds
  • Find sponsors for workshops and events
  • Keep track of E&I expenses over the year
